Boroughbridge

“Boroughbridge in the parish of Aldborough, is a small market town and borough, on the river Ure and the Great North Road, 6 miles southeast of Ripon. The township contains only 950 inhabitants and 220 acres of land. The town is well-built, has several good inns and a commodious stone bridge over the river Ure.” William White’s History, Gazetteer and Directory of the West Riding of Yorkshire, Vol 2, 1838.
