“Bilton-with-Harrogate, the former a small well-built village, and the latter a handsome town and fashionable watering place, from 2 to 3 miles W.S.W. of Knaresborough, and 15 1/2 miles north of Leeds, constitute a township of 4800 acres of land, which increased its population from 1195 in 1801, to 2812 souls in 1831.
