Bransdale Eastside

Bransdale East-Side and West-Side, the former in Kirby Moorside parish and the latter in Kirkdale parish, are two united townships, containing about 300 inhabitants, and about 3000 acres of land, 7 miles N.W. of Kirby Moorside, on both sides of the Hodge Beck riveulet, where there is a small chapel of ease.” William White’s History, Gazetteer and Directory of the East and North Ridings of Yorkshire, 1840.
